BEING ghosted is most singletons' worst nightmare.

Most of us have been there at some point, where the guy we're seeing who previously seemed 100 per cent into us suddenly disappears off the face of the planet.

Ghosting is a controversial tactic but it's starting to become more common, particularly with people who use online dating sites.

To mark this horrifying trend, one company thought it was a great idea to introduce a Halloween costume dedicated to the dating term.

In fairness, the American branch of Party City advertises its £20 ($24.99) outfit to women, implying they're the ones who are doing the ghosting.

The item description reads: "If someone's blowing up your phone, ghost them in a Ghosted Costume for women!

"Eager texters will know not to bother you in this Ghosted Costume."

The costume is a hooded white dress designed to look like a ghost with a series of unanswered texts on the front.

These include: "See you tonight?" following by: "???", "R U OK!?", "Hello" and "Guess not!"

While the company has allegedly received some backlash due to the fact it's only available for women, we can't imagine it's got into as much trouble as the folks behind the "sexy Handmaid's Tale" costume.
