Homes evacuated after man dies in incident as cops and firefighters probe scene in Partington

HOMES were evacuated after a man was found dead following an "incident" inside a house.

Police and fire crews scrambled to the scene in Partington, Manchester.

Firefighters are still on the suburban street after arriving just after 10.30am today.

A number of properties were evacuated but details on the incident remain unclear.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his death is being treated as "non-suspicious", according to cops.

Police said the man's family has been notified and loved ones are currently being supported by officers.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "Just before 10.30am this morning, four fire engines from Gorton, Altrincham, Sale and Eccles fire station attended an incident involving a property on May Walk, Partington.

"Firefighters have been in attendance for around two hours and are still at the scene.

"Staff from Cadent gas service are also believed to have attended.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "GMP are currently in attendance to an incident in May Walk, Partington.

"Sadly, despite best efforts of emergency services, a man has been pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His family are aware and are being supported. A cordon remains in place. The death is being treated as non-suspicious"
