ANT and Dec are known for always standing in the order that their names are spoken - Ant on viewers' left and Dec on the right - but did you know that wasn't always the case?

The presenting icons met on BBC children's drama Byker Grove in the 90s and launched a music career off the back of the show.

As they turned their hand to pop music, the pair went by their characters' names and called the group PJ & Duncan.

They released hit singles Tonight I'm Free and ready To Rhumble as well as two albums.

During this time, PJ, aka Dec, was to the left in images, while Ant was on the right.

For their third album the pair went under their real names and rebranded themselves as Ant & Dec.

Back in January, fans were amazed to see the pair sitting on the wrong side as they filmed the Britain's Got Talent auditions in Blackpool.

They broke the unwritten rule that they must always be pictured in the order their names are spoken during a tram ride with the judges.

The smiley pair posed beside Alesha Dixon, David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell, with Ant getting into the spirit by wearing a fluffy pink cowboy hat.

However, with Dec sitting on Ant's right the picture just didn't look right.

It's not the first time the pair have been seen the wrong way round, although it is rare for it to happen.

Notable occasions in recent years include meetings with Prince Charles, their time as caddies on a golf course and a selfie on stage.

Meanwhile, there was happy news for Dec this weekend when The Sun On Sunday revealed he is expecting his first child with wife Ali Astall.

Dec later took to Instagram to thank his fans for all their well wishes.

Ant is said to be "over the moon" for his best mate.
