London Triathlon 2018: Road closures, route, map, finish times and all the race information

TRIATHALON'S are some of the toughest challenges an athlete can face with three grueling disciplines pushing competitors to the very brink.

This year's London Triathalon takes place on August 4-5, 2018 and we've got all the info here.

What is the route?

The London Triathlon 2018 race takes place in and around the Excel Exhibition Centre, Royal Victoria Dock, London E16.

All competitors will swim in the Royal Victoria Dock and run around the London Docklands.

The bike route varies depending on the distance, day and category you choose.

There are two different bike routes for our Olympic distance competitors:

Saturday Docklands Route – 4 laps turning at Leamouth Roundabout.
Sunday Westminster Route – 1 long lap turning at Big Ben followed by 1 short lap turning at Billingsgate.
Organisers are expecting crowds of around 30,000 people to cheer on the competitors.

Are there any road closures?

Yes, lots.

According to the Transport for London website: Road closures will be implemented on the route and approaches from 5am to facilitate the second day of the London Triathlon between the Excel Centre and Central London including Royal Albert Way eastbound, roads around the Excel, Lower Lea Crossing, East India Dock Tunnel, Aspen Way, Limehouse Link Tunnel, The Highway, Upper and Lower Thames Streets, and Victoria Embankment.

All roads west of Tower Bridge are scheduled to reopen by 12:30pm with all roads between Tower Bridge and Leamouth Roundabout scheduled to reopen by 2pm.

The remaining roads between Leamouth Roundabout and Gallions Reach Roundabout will reopen at 1800hrs.

Lane 2 on royal Albert Way westbound is closed all weekend, with eastbound Royal Albert Way closed between 12.30pm and 6pm.

Expect delays. Lane closures will be implemented in both directions of The Highway from 11.30pm on Saturday August 4 to allow barriers to be laid in advance of the event.
