Lord Alan Sugar sparks cruelty row by posting a picture of his pet jellyfish kept in a tiny bo
LORD Alan Sugar sparked a Twitter storm yesterday by showing a jellyfish in a tiny bowl and hinting it was his pet.
The Apprentice boss, 72, shared a clip of the critter swimming and told 5.3million followers: “Some people collect gold fish.”

Social media users quickly accused him of cruelty. One wrote: “You disappoint me. You know that’s not right, bigger tank or set the little fella free.”
Another said: “That’s so cruel to put it in such a small bowl...put it back in the ocean where it belongs.”
Lord Sugar, who is thought to be in Portugal, hit back and insisted he had saved the jellyfish.

He added: “Of course they are going back in the sea. This one was rescued from a fishing net. Just on display for the kids.”
Mimi Bekhechi, of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said: “Jellyfish are notoriously hard to care for when captured. Even a slight change in temperature can kill them.

“Given his money and privilege, we’re sure Lord Sugar can find ways to amuse himself without depriving another living being of a natural life.”
