Young woman sexually assaulted on Bognor Regis beach and in nightclub with man, 25, held

COPS have arrested a man after a young woman was sexually assaulted on a beach during a night out with pals.

The victim had been at Sheiks nightclub in Bognor, West Sussex, when she was first attacked by the suspect.

He then took the woman, whose age hasn't been released, to the beach where he assaulted her for a second time near the pier.

Officers have arrested a 25-year-old man from Bognor Regis on suspicion of rape, and he remains in custody.

Police stepped up police patrols in the area after the attacks as they were searching for the suspect.

Police say the victim is receiving support from specially-trained officers following the horror at around 3.30am on Sunday.

Sussex Police spokesman said: "Police investigating a sexual assault on a beach in Bognor Regis have made an arrest.

"The victim, a young woman, had been out with friends in town on Saturday evening.

"She was taken by a man to the beach in the Esplanade after 3.30am on the Sunday where the sexual assault took place.

"Officers have today arrested a 25-year-old man from Bognor Regis on suspicion of rape. He remains in custody at this stage."
